Clinical Consultation
My approach to clinical consultation mirrors my approach to therapy with an emphasis on authentic relationality. Integrating my experience with clinical work and advanced training, I strive to co-create a safe space in which healing professionals can first and foremost develop a deeper understanding of themselves as people and professionals. Through an emphasis on the person of the therapist within the therapeutic experience and the interaction between the therapist and introduction of therapeutic interventions, expanding our self-awareness allows us to show up differently to the therapeutic process. Consultation frequently includes an exploration of clinical impasses, discussion of how to best work with individuals with highly complex presentations, and the integration of different approaches to trauma therapy.
Trauma Models
Much of my early training as a therapist was grounded in psychodynamic theory. An emphasis on understanding the unconscious world of the client, understanding the impact of the past on the present, and a heightened attention on relationality remains central in my approach to therapy. As our field continues to better understand the importance of attachment within the developmental experience and across the lifespan, this research also informs my work.
I am certified in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, a body-centered, integrative therapeutic approach to healing trauma and developmental/attachment trauma and fostering wholeness and wellness. I have also completed certification in Compassionate Bereavement Care, a mindfulness based, holistic approach to supporting those navigating the aftermath of traumatic loss.
Additionally, I have completed advanced training in:
Through my involvement with MN Trauma Project, I have had the opportunity to learn directly from many leaders in the field of attachment, trauma, and dissociation, including Alex Katehakis, Janina Fisher, Jerry Lamagna, Kathy Steele, Lisa Schwarz, Pat Ogden, Richard Chefetz, Richard Schwartz, Robert Muller, Ruth Lanius, Stan Tatkin, and others.
